Riley House Restaurant: Real Americana on a Plate
The Riley House Restaurant is Greenfield, Indiana‘s best-kept secret. It is a charming Main Street Greenfield restaurant steeped in the Americana that epitomizes the real Midwest that spawned its namesake, James Whitcomb Riley.
Laid-back as Greenfield society itself, the dining establishment offers friendly, efficient service and quality down-home dining to all who enter. You and your family will want to come back for the experience, whether you live in the Indianapolis suburb or are driving from the inner city to try the outlying restaurants’ fare and compare it to your favorite Indianapolis restaurants.
James Whitcomb Riley is the world-famous creator of Little Orphan Annie. Because of this man and his whimsical creativity, Indiana now has the Riley Hospital for Children, the James Whitcomb Riley Museum Home, Riley Park, and the famous Riley Festival in Greenfield.

Hubby and I came in awhile back and was seated near a table of about 15 or so. We were about the only folks in there except that big table and 2 waitresses. We were forgot about after our drink order – waitress never came back to take our food order. Later she came through and did a double take. At that point we asked her how much for the drinks because we were leaving. She got mad and said OH FORGET IT.
We will NOT be back. The place was filthy, too.
I love to eat here, best food in greenfield
I had dinner tonight ofter church at your establishment about 7:15 PM.
It was the worst meal ever!
I had the soup and salad bar. The it was postivitely pitiful. The lettuce was partly wilted and partly frozen, and appeared to have been just ripped from a the lettuce head. Some of the other conduments were completely out. The chilli was a mistake. It was a mixture of spagetti sauce, noodles, beans spiced with chilli pepper.
My wife had a sandwich that had bacon on it. The bacon was not completely cooked.
Bottom line, we will never stop there for dinner after church again.
